The Macy’s Parade at Universal Studios during Thanksgiving period, was a great spectacle. As we are from Scotland, we don’t have anything like that here and although the proper Macy’s Parade happens in New York, it was still an amazing feeling seeing it within the grounds of Universal Studios.
New York Thanksgiving
This experience at Universal Studios has me wanting to go to New York at Thanksgiving to see the Macy’s Parade. Universal Studios was really busy during Thanksgiving, so I can imagine how busy the New York streets would be during this time. We would have to plan ahead to make sure we found a spot to watch the parade and be within a short distance to food and drink. For example, a roof-top bar.
Research
Before we went to Florida we had learned that we would be over in America during Thanksgiving and due to watching some YouTube folks such as TheTimTracker, Rix Flix and PCDev, we seen in advance that Universal Studios does a Thanksgiving theme as well as putting on their version of the Macy’s Parade. Thank you to those guys, because we chose which section of the park to sit and watch the parade. It was truly amazing. Although, the security people navigating the floats sometimes got in the way of my recording, I still got some footage.
Duration
The Macy’s Parade at Universal Studios ran from 13th of November through December (I’m not sure when exactly it ended), which is good, as the New York Macy’s is on Thanksgiving day. So, if you are wanting to experience what a Macy’s Parade is like then Universal having this on for roughly 6 weeks allows anyone to see the parade. Not to mention, all the Christmas theme throughout the park every single day certainly helps lift the spirit for Christmas.
